Senator and Sr. Class Officer Elections for 2015-2016 School Year

Welcome back to the spring elections 2015.  This is the Class Senator Final Elections and Senior Class Final Elections that will decide the rest of officers for the 2015-2016 school year.  Thanks to all those who turned out to vote in the ASB elections and turned out for the Sr. Class Primary Elections.  We had a great voter turn out.  Voting for this round will be open March 24 - 26 and the link will be live only during school hours.  Voting will end on Thursday, March 26th at the end of break

Shorewood spring athletes congratulations!



To the Baseball team for their 2 wins in 19 innings this past Saturday in Bellevue. The two wins send them onto the State semi-finals versus Central Kitsap at UW Husky Ballpark this coming Friday and Saturday. Their game is this Friday at 7pm.


To the track and field team for their outstanding performances this past Friday at the NW District 1 Championships held at Shoreline Stadium. Top 3 qualify for the State meet held in Tacoma this coming Thursday-Saturday. Those who qualified for State were Skylar Widman in the 100m (broke his own personal record (PR)), Girls 4x200 relay of Chrislove Brandt, Christina Garrison, Adrienne Cordell, and Leah Deobald (season’s best time-district champions), Ronnie Gary in the High Jump (district champion), Devan Kirk in the 800m (got a new PR time and district champion, just missed the District Meet record by .01 and missed the school record by .18), Chris Diaz in the 300m hurdles (got a new PR time and broke a 26 yr old school record), and the boys 4x100 relay of Bostyn Vordahl, Jerren Johnson, Kant Xu, and Chris Diaz (district champions and broke a 12 yr school record). They leave Thursday for the State meet.



To boys golf who left Tuesday (Jeff Madsen) for the Tri-Cities for the State Golf Championships!



To boys tennis who leaves Thursday (Cameron McDowell and Jack Bong) for the Tri-Cities for the State Tennis Championships.



To boys soccer who made the State Tournament but lost in the 1st round of the tournament last week.



To girls fastpitch softball who won the 3A State Academic award for having the best cumulative GPA in the State.



To girls tennis who took 2nd place in Wesco South and Emily Wright and Ellie Allen-Hatch just missed qualifying for the State Tennis Championships.

Congrats to all the Fall Sports teams for post season play.

Great season Girls Soccer, their season is complete after a tough lost vs. Stanwood 3-1 on Thursday night.

Good luck to the Girls Swim & Dive team in the upcoming NW District 1 Meet on Nov. 6th & 7th at Snohomish.

Boys Tennis Won 3A Wesco South League and NW District 1 with State Qualifiers in Doubles Kyle Berquist and Hugh Gaevert and in Singles Gunnar Thorstenson.  Kyle, Hugh, and Gunnar will compete at the State Tournament in May in Kennewick.

Boys and Girls Cross Country with Aaron Rainboth, Devan Kirk, and Rachel Hansen qualifying for the State Meet in Pasco on Nov. 7th.

Congrats to the Volleyball team for winning Wesco South!  The girls are headed to next week's State Tournament as they won their 2nd match in the NW District 1 Tournament.  They play for the District Crown on Saturday!

Running for ASB Office is a great way to get involved in Shorewood High School. Members of the ASB Leadership Team have an important voice in student affairs and have the freedom to take on projects to improve or change the way the school is run and to help create a positive school culture and atmosphere.


Elections take place during spring for elected offices for the following year.  Winners will be signed up for 2nd period Leadership with Mr. Villanueva (full-year course) during their term.
Intent to Run Form submissions are available now online right here (link will download a pdf file). Forms will also be available in room 2103 starting Monday, February 1st.

Elected positions:
ASB Officers: President, Vice-President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer.
Senior Class Officers: President, Vice-President, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer.
Junior Class Senators: Number is determined by class size.  (6 for the Class of 2018)
Sophomore Class Senators: Number is determined by class size. (6 for the Class of 2019)
Freshman Class Senators: Number is determined by class size.  (unknown until June 2020)

Welcome to Shorewood’s first election for the next school year.  Registration sheets will be due March 11th, we need to figure out who next year’s officers are so the registration process can continue on. Today we start with the ASB Primary Elections.  We need to take ASB offices down to 2 candidates and the office that we need to do that with is ASB President. Voting will be open online directly after the speeches that you hear today.  If you'd like to hear more from candidates, there will be a town hall/debate during lunch in the career center.  Bring questions you'd like to ask.  Voting will close at the end of the school day on Wednesday (3/2).

Shoreline Community Film Screening

PTSA is sponsoring a Shoreline Community Film Screening of "The Mask You Live In" on Sunday, March 6 at 5pm at the Shoreline Center Auditorium. It is free for all students with School ID. The Mask You Live In explores how our culture’s narrow definition of masculinity is harming our boys, men, and society at large and unveils what we, as leaders, can do about it. Please plan to attend and help spread the word to raise awareness in the Community. Bring some extra money for a food truck at 4 pm.

The Talent Show will be Friday, March 18th in the Shorewood Auditorium. The theme will be fancy *you could win a prize!* - watch for video bulletins! It will be $7 at the business office and at the door. Doors open at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:00! Thank you to all who tried out and for everyone who will be coming!
